TEACHING FACULTY


Russell Abraham

 

Percussion, Musicianship

 

Russell is currently based in Birmingham where he works as a timpanist, percussionist and conductor. He is an extra player with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Director of the Redditch Orchestra, as well as being in demand as a freelance player in the UK.  Russell is passionate about his involvement in music making in Jersey, where as well as teaching percussion for the Jersey Instrumental Service he runs the Education programme for the Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is delighted to be joining the JAM team which will give him more opportunities to develop percussion playing in Jersey.

 

 

Emmanuelle Dumas

 

Cello, Materials of Music, Musicianship, Chamber Music

 

Born in Montauban, France, Emmanuelle studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  Since moving to Jersey with Chris George in 2004, following completion of the Masters course, they have together initiated various musical activities on the island including three tours from the young professional London-based Emfeb orchestra, the establishment of the summer music course Musique et Aventure, the formation of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and Music In Action, and together they will be managing the Jersey Academy of Music.  

 

 

Chris George

 

Piano, Materials of Music, Musicianship, Chamber music, Composition

 

Born in Jersey, Chris George studied piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  Since returning to the island following completion of the Masters course in 2004 he has been teaching and performing regularly on the island and overseas, including various performances locally with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Jersey Chamber Orchestra.  Through teaching he has taken several students through to conservatoire level entry, with former local students now studying piano at Trinity School of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the Royal College of Music. 



Katherine Grant

 

Flute, Piano, Materials of Music, Musicianship, Chamber Music, GCSE Support, A-Level Support

 

A local girl, Katherine studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Music.  She pursued a freelance career as a flautist before undertaking a PGCE in Secondary Music at the Institute of Education (UL).  Her education experience includes peripatetic teaching; KS3, GCSE and A-Level classroom teaching and general music tuition at infant and junior level.  She has been Head of Music at a local secondary school for the past 5 years. 

 

 

Pippa Lumbard

 

Brass, Chamber Music

 

Born in Jersey, Pippa studied the French Horn at Trinity College of Music, gaining both undergraduate & postgraduate diplomas in performance, plus a Licentiate in Brass Teaching. She has performed with the Britten-Pears Orchestra, London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra & locally with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra.   She has taught and coached ensembles in many UK schools as well as working for Hertfordshire & Brent music services. Since returning to Jersey 4 years ago Pippa teaches Brass privately, including at St Michael’s school & De La Salle.



Mariella Wildbur

 

Violin, Viola, Chamber Music

 

Since leaving Trinity College of Music Mariella has had a varied freelance career. Playing including: the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Dolmetch Ensemble, Support Act for Blur, Frank Sinatra Big Band, and TV performances with string quartet. Teaching posts have encompassed private, public and state schools in addition to coaching Youth Orchestras, Chamber groups and on the IAPS music course.
