WELCOME

Based at the magnificent property of Chateau Vermont, the Jersey Academy of Music is open to children and young people of all ages, from those wishing to start learning an instrument to those who already play but would benefit from tuition in other areas of music-making to take their study further.

Tuition at the academy is not only based on one-to-one instrumental or vocal teaching, but also incorporates the study of Theory, Aural Skills, Performance, Improvisation, Ensemble, History, and other key areas of musical study essential for the full enjoyment of music. Most of these elements are compulsory parts of the core syllabus, but many more are optional for those who wish to concentrate on specific areas of study.

Those who receive instrumental or vocal tuition elsewhere on the island are also welcome to become part of the academy to enhance their studies in other areas of music-making, and broaden their musical horizons. Links with other music academy institutions both in the UK and further abroad will provide a wealth of inspiration, with regular visits from some of the country’s leading teachers and young musicians.
